Technologies’ principal, Paul Friedman, garnered over 30 years
of experience in product marketing and project management in commercial
high technology industries and traditional retail businesses. Recognizing
the importance of web technologies to internal communication, training
and promotion, he helped design and developed content for successful
web sites. Given his technological bent, migration from design and
content to production was a natural one. This combination of capabilities
allows Paul to assist clients define how they and/or their products
should be seen by prospects. He conducted and managed the complete
product life cycle from conducting market research to elicit customer
requirements, participated in engineering specification development
to satisfy requirements, monitored engineering development, then
rolled out product marketing and support. The following are a few
examples of Paul’s diverse successful marketing and engineering
projects.
Retail
Created and managed Software Only, one of the first home computer
software retail stores as a research tool for the educational software
publishing arm of the then fourth largest computer company. Its
success lead to expanding the concept by opening additional stores
and beginning a franchise endeavor. Responsibilities included market
positioning, personnel training and management, advertising, product
selection, and merchandizing.
Worked with Dancing
Together to define its niche in partner dance instruction, develop
a trade name to characterize the business, define alternate channels
to market the product, and then develop a web site that characterizes
the business.
Commercial
Brought the telemetry
industries first real time networked based distributed software
and hardware systems
to market after conducting marketing research and collaborating
with developers to apply emerging technologies to meet market requirements.
The resulting product was an immediate success and the resulting
family accounts for over half the division’s revenues. Other
development efforts included establishing prices and pricing strategy
to maximize income. sales collaterals, presentations and training.
He became a company spokesperson through technical presentations
at symposia throughout the world.
Product
manager for an automated
accelerated reliability (life) and characterization test software
and hardware systems for semiconductor components and devices.
Created the product positioning statement “Your parts will
fail Know when. Prove it. Improve it.” Designed web product
content and sales collaterals, sales training, articles for the
trade press and formal technical presentations to professional societies.
Implemented a basic shared CRM system for the sales group to tract
prospect and customer activity.
