| A Project
Managers' most important goal or target is "on time and budget
delivery of
their assignment". Along the way of achieving this endeavor
are a number of collateral objectives such as defining measurable
intermediate and final goals, managing stakeholders expectations,
maintaining team focus, and keeping management informed of financial
and technical status. Stakeholders i.e., customers, may be an internal
organization or an external one be it government or commercial,
domestic or international.
Managing large projects whether technical, marketing or construction
require not only diverse technical skills but those of cost accounting,
finance, risk management, communication, motivation, procurement,
and attention to detail. Software tools assist execution of these
tasks such as ERP/corporate cost accounting, CRM, and project management
(Microsoft Project and Scitor) to track and predict schedules, resources
and costs; manage risks; view "what if" scenarios; and
evaluate the current value of work expended.
